Meetings in parishes – day two



The second day of meetings of the Divine Mercy worshippers with Cracow residents was marked with the testimonies from Colombia, Korea, Nigeria, Brazil and Lebanon.


Polish Professor, Bogdan Piotrowski, who has lived in Colombia for 30 years, talked about the cult of the Divine Mercy develoing in this country. In the St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish in Dębniki District – in the church where Karol Wojtyła often prayed and where he met his spiritual master, Jan Tyranowski – the professor spoke to hundreds of Cracow citizens. He is a well-known translator of John Paul II’s works and calls the Pope “the ambassador of the Divine Mercy”. He asserted that the best way to spread the message of the Divine Mercy is to popularise the teaching and message of Blessed John Paul II.

In the Divine Mercy Parish at Oficerskie Housing Estate an emotional testimony was given by Rosy Chaanie and her assistants. Rosy first came across with the Divine Mercy in dramatic circumstances of her private life when after her family emigration to Canada, one oh her sisters feel ill with cancer. In this drama Rosy turned to the Divine Mercy. Her 29-year-old sister died, but her deep experiencing the power coming from trust in God made her finally share and publicly profess her faith in the home country. Rosy came back to Lebanon and now she proclaims the message of the Divine Mercy.

Experienced with difficult service of helping the poorest Brazilian favelas – the members of the Community of Covenant of Mercy – talked about their work to the Cracow citizens at St. Jadwiga Parish in Krowodrza District. Today – they said – they are the witnesses of  miracles happening through the cross of the World Days of Youth and through the icon of Blessed Virgin Mary, peregrinating for the last two weeks around Brazil. As they described one woman had been healed after the contact with the cross, and the man who had been planning murder, converted himslef and now is their member. The evening finished with the charismatic prayer.

The cult of the Divine Mercy still exists in South Korea, where for many years has worked the Pallottine Father, Paweł Zawadzki. In the Vincentian Church in Stradom District he, along with his Korean friends assured the Cracow believers that the Divine Mercy is the answer to fear, suffering and problems of people in the exotic Korea, whether in family or social life, or in religious communities. “Poland is our older sister in faith” – listeners heard from them.

In the Divine Mercy Parish in Nowy Prokocim District the Nigerian Bishop, Martin Uzoukwu talked about the Divine Mercy Service in Africa.
